Last Chance to Contribute to NYAPRS in 2022!
NYAPRS’ historic efforts to promote human rights, voluntary community crisis, engagement, rehabilitation and support services and our dedicated workforce have never been needed more!
We live in a political climate that is threatening to take us backwards to the policies of coercion, criminalization and confinement. These policies are forged in an environment of public fears around rising rates of violence in this nation and the false conflation of that violence with members of our community.
We know how to serve people in the greatest need: culturally responsive and trauma-informed peer-led outreach and engagement teams, mental health instead of police first responders, full access to housing, rehabilitation and peer support innovations and a commitment to build out a full continuum of crisis services in every county.
We know that more hospitalizations and beds will not provide us with true solutions and that, at minimum, successful hospital discharge plans must include access to peer transitional supports, housing first and clubhouse and peer recovery centers.
And we know that in order to meet their responsibilities here, state and local governments must make unprecedented, legacy making investments into state and local community services like these!
For over 30 years, NYAPRS has been a state and national leader in the promotion of rights and recovery focused policies and services.
Help support our efforts in 2023 to forge a coalition of mental health and addiction recovery warriors, legal and civil rights, criminal justice reform, independent living and housing groups to secure truly compassionate and long-lasting solutions that best support our neighbors in need.
