The Peer Profession Progression
1.50 CE hours
Peer support workers are people who have been successful in the recovery process who help others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support staff help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer support services can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking recovery (SAMHSA).
This webinar will provide information on education on peer training followed by a panel discussion with some of New York State’s peer leaders. Panelists will share their own experiences working in the field and discussing the many opportunities for how they have used lived experience in their work, from providing recovery services to individuals to leading organizations as administrators.
