NYAPRS Note: The following announcement comes from the New York State Psychiatric Institute’s Center for Excellence for Cultural Competence.
Dear colleagues and friends:
Please enjoy the 13th edition of Cultural Competence Matters- a report from the Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence at the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI-CECC). This issue highlights the main findings of the White Paper developed by the Office of Mental Health’s Bureau of Cultural Competence (BCC) and the Centers of Excellence for Cultural Competence at the Nathan Kline Institute and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The White paper demonstrates why health care reform in New York State must include culturally competent care and discusses ways in which cultural competence can be infused in the State’s newly emerging care delivery models.
