The Family Institute for Education, Practice & Research is located at the University of Rochester’s Medical Center and has been created to establish a mechanism to teach mental health providers how to effectively provide family services to individuals with a mental illness and their families. Their work focuses on the important role of the family and the power of relationships to foster social, emotional and mental well-being. It is crucial that all parties involved in the mental health system understand how important it is to involve families and others to assist with the recovery of the consumer. This webinar will:
Give an overview of the Family Institute’s history and their mission
Review what an agency/program should have to work with a consumer’s support system
Give details on the Consumer Centered Family Consultation model and the Learning Community format that they are presently launching to continue with their mission. For more info, please visit their website at: http://www.nysfamilyinstitute.org/
