New Howie the Harp Initiative: Prep Course for Acadamy of Peer Services Exams

February 11, 2015 by Chris Liu-Beers

NYAPRS Note: Please see the note below from the Community Access Howie the Harp program, offering a new initiative to help peers in NYC with the State Peer Certification process.

Dear Colleagues,

Howie the Harp of Community Access is pleased to announce a new initiative to help peers (working and non-working) move through the State Peer Certification process.

We are offering a course that will blend the Academy of Peer Services (APS) online courses with classroom learning in order to support people who are interested in taking the APS certification tests. The APS certification will soon be mandatory for most peer jobs in New York State.

In addition to test preparation, core principles of peer work will be introduced and reviewed. Details of the course are in the application packet.

Click here for the application and please distribute it along with this posting to anyone whom you feel might be interested in applying for this short course. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Kendall Atterbury at 212.780.1400 ext. 7736, or katterbury@communityaccess.org
