NYAPRS Appoints Tanya Stevens as Deputy Director,
Seeks CFO, Policy Director and Managed Care Projects Manager
Good afternoon E News readers,
Fast changing times like these require strong and nimble leadership. In that spirit, I want to announce a number of personnel changes and openings at NYAPRS.
First off, I am very pleased to announce that Tanya Stevens will be assuming the post of NYAPRS Deputy Director. Tanya has served as Director of our Peer Services Division since 2004; under her leadership, the NYAPRS Peer Bridger model’s proven success within the Medicaid managed care environment has made it a national standard.
Tanya has long played a key role within the agency far beyond managing peer services. She brings great expertise, experience and dedication to her new duties, which will include overseeing or informing day to day agency operations, including human resources, program and event management and board, staff, and member services and supports.
Second, our Finance Director Mark Denley recently submitted his plans to resign as of August 7th. He has done a stellar job on our behalf and moves on at a time that allows NYAPRS to search for a Chief Fiscal Officer who has Medicaid experience to better assist with our peer services’ upcoming transition to Medicaid billing.
On that topic, NYAPRS is well prepared for our move to Medicaid billing for our managed care peer bridger contracts by Tanya’s recent hiring of Tara Miller to serve as Assistant Director of our Peer Services Division. Tara brings valuable expertise in supervising Medicaid funded peer services in Pennsylvania, as well as a strong personal dedication to advancing fidelity level peer services. She is already off to a very fast and good start in her new duties.
Finally, our Public Policy Director Briana Gilmore recently announced that she will be leaving effective August 5 to assume a new level of responsibility to help advance program development and oversight at Community Access, a widely acclaimed New York City-based NYAPRS member agency. Briana’s unique expertise in public policy analysis and advocacy, grassroots organizing and member technical assistance has been of extraordinary value to our agency, membership and broader community. We look forward to future collaborations with Briana in her new role so please don’t think we’ll lose all touch with her.
NYAPRS continues to expand and diversify our efforts to advance our mission of promoting the recovery, rehabilitation, rights and full community integration of people with psychiatric disabilities. This has resulted in our plans to hire several additional team members.
NYAPRS Director for Systems Transformation Edye Schwartz has led NYAPRS to be an important partner within the state’s Managed Care Technical Assistance Center (MCTAC), especially in the area of specialized support for NYS behavioral health agencies with little or no experience billing Medicaid. MCTAC recently awarded NYAPRS additional funds to advance our work in this area, hence the creation of the new open position of Managed Care Projects Manager.
Finally, NYAPRS is working with OMH, OASAS and NYC DOHMH and our partners at the Mental Health Empowerment Project (MHEP) and Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York (ASAP) to develop a statewide managed care education program for Medicaid beneficiaries who are eligible for HARP and health home services. Look for more details and potential job openings in the coming weeks.
You can find all three job descriptions and application materials on our website at http://www.nyaprs.org/contact-us/jobs.cfm. We are seeking to fill all three positions by late August to early September.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss these changes and opportunities with me.
As always, thanks for your continued support of our agency and its great mission.
Best all,
Harvey
