The 6th Bi-Annual Summit on Aging, Independence, and Transportation
WNY Independent Living Family of Agencies is excited to announce the return of the 6th Bi-Annual Summit on Aging, Independence, and Transportation on March 26, 2025, at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott, 1340 Millersport Highway, Amherst, NY 14221. The purpose of the Summit is to identify and reveal critical efforts, ideas, research and issues related to aging, independence, transportation, wellness and change. We are seeking interested parties to participate in this day-long event, which will feature one-hour workshops held concurrently throughout the day. These workshops will:
· Explore “Best & Next Practices” to support and sustain independence for older adults and people with disabilities.
· Learn about Inclusive Communities that support and sustain independence for older adults and people with disabilities.
· Examine Current and Future Strategies that support and sustain independence for older adults and people with disabilities.
· Investigate Inclusive Transportation Issues and Strategies for older adults and people with disabilities.
Summit Description
The Summit on Aging, Independence and Transportation offers a platform to share, identify, and examine “Best & Next Practices” to address the current and future needs of older adults and people with disabilities. Local, regional, state and national leaders in public policy, research, and services will present models, concepts, and initiatives that support and sustain aging and independence. Presentations will focus on three Program Tracks:
1. Public Policy: Legislation and urban planning to support and sustain aging, independence, and inclusive transportation, regional demographic forecasting, and planning for economic change.
2. Research: Best & next practices in health, technology, and transportation to support and sustain aging and independence.
3. Service: Programs and strategies that create inclusive communities to support and sustain aging and independence.
Call for Workshop Proposals
We invite you to submit a workshop proposal for consideration at the 6th Bi-Annual Summit on Aging, Independence, and Transportation, to be held at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott in Amherst, NY, on March 26, 2025. Please submit your proposal by January 31, 2025. Your submission should include:
1. Name, Title, Organization/Employer
2. A document no longer than 2 pages
3. An abstract of your overall presentation
4. Identification of the focus of your paper, aligned with one of the three Program Tracks: Public Policy, Research, or Service
5. The type of presentation (lecture, video, panel)
6. Willingness to be part of a panel or group presentation
7. Your target audience: Healthcare professionals, caregivers, students, etc.
Presentation Details
Cost: Free, including breakfast and lunch on the day of the event.
Expected Attendees:
· Human Service and Health Care Providers
· Public policy and disability rights advocates, grassroots organizers, and human rights organizations
· Traditional and non-traditional long-term care and health care providers, durable medical equipment providers, medical equipment and pharmaceutical service providers, and programs and services supporting aging in place
· Graduate and Doctoral Students, Educators, and Post-Doctoral Researchers in social work, medicine, gerontology, rehabilitation, and technology
· Caregivers and Seniors
Program Accessibility
The Summit on Aging will ensure all presentations are accessible to the widest range of people possible. This includes scheduling interpreters for all general sessions and providing materials in alternative formats. Guidelines for accessible presentations will be included in the information sent to each presenter.
