Dear OMH providers,
Attached please find an important notice informing providers of the Department of Health’s May 16, 2022 implementation of the New York Independent Assessor (NYIA), Maximus, for all adults newly seeking Medicaid personal care services (PCS), consumer directed personal assistance services (CDPAS) and MLTC plan eligibility (already implemented). Upon implementation, Local Departments of Social Services and Medicaid managed care plans will not be scheduling and conducting initial, including immediate need as of July 1, 2022, assessments for PCS and CDPAS; primary care physicians will no longer be conducting exams and writing orders for these services. Additional information and contact information is provided in the attached document.
OMH is bringing this notification to your attention to bring awareness to providers of this critical change to PCS and CDPAS assessment processes and prevent delays in accessing these services for individuals living with serious mental illness who rely on them to transition to and maintain tenure in our communities.
