NYAPRS Note: Don’t miss next week’s NYAPRS Executive Seminar presentation and panel discussion on New York’s proposed 1115 Medicaid waiver demonstration, entitled “Strategic Health Equity Reform Payment Arrangements (SHERPA): Making Targeted, Evidence-Based Investments to Address the health Disparities Exacerbated by the COVID-19 Pandemic (SHERPA)”. The waiver requests $13.52 billion over the next five (5) years to address health disparities and systemic barriers to care highlighted and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It seeks to fundamentally change the way the State pays for and supports the integration of social care and health care and proposes to devote $7 billion to advancing value-based payment (VBP) models and more than $1.5B committed to supportive housing initiatives – which would be the largest investment by any state Medicaid program to date.
