NYAPRS Note: There’re only 5 weeks until NYAPRS’ information and inspiration packed Annual Conference to be held this September 10-12 at the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, NY! Registrations are beginning to flow and, once again, priority room arrangements at the Hudson Valley and the nearby Honors Haven will be available on a first come basis.
Long acclaimed as one of the finest and most timely recovery conferences in the nation, this year’s program is entitled ‘Keeping the Focus on Recovery and Rights’ and brings together an extraordinary group of some of the nation’s and state’s greatest leaders and innovators to demonstrate how to anchor the sweeping changes our systems are undergoing in our core principles and values.
This year’s program features a powerful line up of 4 keynote sessions that will feature a ‘Conversation with the Mothers of our Movement’ Pat Deegan, Sally Zinman, Gayle Bluebird and Jacki McKinney as well as presentations by some of the nation’s most respected change agents Vivian Jackson, Larry Fricks and Larry Davidson.
It also offers featured plenary speakers Pat Deegan and Joe Powell and 74 information and inspiration packed workshop sessions that will offer the latest information and innovations in the following areas: Health, Healing and Recovery, Empowerment and Advocacy, Cultural Competence, Integrated Behavioral and Physical Healthcare, Administration and Management, Health Homes and Managed Care, Exemplary or Emerging Practices, Community Integration and Peer Services and Supports.
We are also very proud to present 2 outstanding entertainers, Blues Hall of Fame inductee Rhett Tyler and his band Early Warning and Stand Up for Mental Health’s David Granirer, who’ll be schooling and featuring 6 new comics from our own NYAPRS community.
And of course the Conference will continue to feature an array of free healing sessions (acupuncture, shiatsu, reiki, t’ai chi and massage) and our famous outdoor evening barbecue.
Special Note: This year’s program will run from Tuesday to Thursday rather than our traditional Wednesday to Friday dates to avoid conflicts with the Jewish holidays.
ECPR!: The National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery and NYAPRS are very pleased to announce that one of two 2-day certification level training programs on eCPR (emotional CPR) will be offered directly before this year’s NYAPRS Conference at the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, NY. See more details and registration info at http://emotional-cpr-newyork.whindo.com<http://emotional-cpr-newyork.whindo.com/>. cCPR attendees who stay on for the NYAPRS Conference will get a 20% discount.
