Alliance Note: On the day of Isaac Brown’s funeral, here are some of the very touching expressions of love and gratitude that people across our community have shared, be they fellow peers or peer agency leaders, former employees or students, current and former state officials or former contractors or consultant partners. At the bottom, you’ll see photos that Isaac proudly took a few weeks ago of the exhibition of his paintings that are hanging today at the Bethlehem Public Library.
Isaac deeply loved our community and was devoted to his longtime service in advocating for rights and advancing peer support services….but he really ultimately saw himself as an artist.

I am saddened and astounded. I loved his art which is included in our Altered States website. I think he continued to do amazing art. I don’t know the reasons for anything or why he was swept away to a place of eternal peace. I send my love.

First meeting & learning peer recovery basics from Isaac was a high point in my career. Isaac’s energy and experience laid the groundwork for extraordinary capacity building beyond old systems & practices. Later, it was so beautiful watching Isaac’s art work emerge locally here in Albany and feel the love and support for this stellar human being.
Rest in peace, dear friend; know that you are deeply loved and that your groundbreaking work leaves marks on the global landscape horizon!

What a huge loss to all! On a personal note, Isaac helped inspire me to train and work as a peer specialist, many years ago, at a time when I never thought I would work again. Have now been employed in the field for over 22 years! R.I.P., Isaac. How you will be missed!

More than as an advocate or peer pioneer, Isaac saw himself as an artist. One of his proudest achievements is the exhibition of his paintings that hangs today at the Bethlehem Public Library just south of Albany. Here are some photos that Isaac took and shared just a few weeks ago.
