“Improving Health and Healthcare for People with Serious Mental Health Conditions”
Improving the quality of life through the integration of health and mental health is one of the key goals of United States federal initiatives including the Affordable Health Care Act, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for Integrated Health Solutions and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. This webinar will provide a combined public health and mental health approach to the complex problems of medical and mental health challenges for persons with significant mental health problems.
The lead presenter will be Benjamin Druss, M.D., MPH, Rosalynn Carter Chair in Mental Health at the Department of Health Policy and Management, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. Dr. Druss is one of the leading experts and researchers in the area of physical and mental health integration. He discusses a model that has relevance for large scale replication throughout the U.S.
Facilitator for the webinar will be Dori Hutchinson, Sc. D., Director of Recovery Services at the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Dr. Hutchinson has been incorporating innovative health and wellness practices into Psychiatric Rehabilitation/Recovery Services for over 20 years.
Sharing her personal experiences about attempting to deal with physical and mental health needs will be Gloria Dickerson, an Alumna of the BU Recovery Services program.
