Note: This travel award by the American Society for Hispanic Psychiatry (ASHP) and the American Psychiatry Association Office of Minority and National Affairs (APA-OMNA) will sponsor Early Career Latino Mental Health Researchers to attend a poster presentation during a plenary session that features Dr. Margarita Alegría (Director of the Center for Multicultural Mental Health Research at Cambridge Health Alliance, and Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School) as keynoter, a panel of government officials and other stakeholders, and reception to be held in New York City (Saturday May 3rd, 2014). This timely event aims at fostering mental health disparities research in the context of the ongoing healthcare reform, and is being organized with the support of the ASHP, APA-OMNA and the New York State Psychiatric Institute Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence.

Dear Colleague, The American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry (ASHP) and the American Psychiatric Association Office of Minority and National Affairs (APA-OMNA) are pleased to announce a Call for Abstracts for the Early Career Latino Mental Health Researchers Travel Award. The award will sponsor junior Latino investigators to participate in a Poster Presentation of new or ongoing research as part of a meeting focusing on mental health research and service delivery for Latinos in the age of the Affordable Care Act. The poster presentation and meeting will be held during the APA-OMNA On Tour Event in New York City on May 3rd, 2014. Awardees will also be provided with the opportunity to work closely with a senior researcher who will serve as a mentor for their poster. The goal of the ASHP and APA-OMNA is to foster research careers that contribute to our knowledge of Latino mental health and the reduction of mental health disparities. Please see the attached Call for Abstracts for further details and instructions for submission.
