Position Summary:
The Director of Operations is a key member of the NYAPRS management team and is responsible for directing and overseeing the organization’s operational policies, objectives, and initiatives. Directs the development of the organization to ensure systems and procedures are followed and to foster effective communications by and between all staff members.
Essential Functions:
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with senior and middle management and support staff, as well as the Board of Directors and business/community representatives;
- Leads and directs the day-to-day activities of the financial and operations/administrative departments;
- Responsible for all aspects of human resources programs and policies, including staffing, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, orientation/training, performance evaluations, record confidentiality and maintenance, and health and safety programs;
- Evaluates current operational systems and procedures. Informs and recommends changes when necessary and oversees the implementation of new processes;
- Staff liaison to Board Human Resources Committee;
- Coordinates staff development to enhance employee knowledge and to meet organizational needs;
- Responsible for the attainment of short- and long-term financial and operational goals to ensure future growth; and
- Performs a wide variety of tasks as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required with at least 10+ years experience;
- Human Resource Management and Operations Management experience, preferred;
- Demonstrate Not-For-Profit experience in Health & Human Services field’s concepts, practices, and procedures;
- Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals;
- Demonstrate expertise with multi-tasking, organizational, strategic thinking and relationship-building skills;
- Communicate in a strong, positive and effective manner both verbally and non-verbally;
- Strong project management expertise;
- Demonstrate a high level of personal accountability, confidentiality and willingness to share expertise;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; and
- Lived experience with the mental health system preferred.
