National Council to Launch New Trauma-Informed Care Learning Community
Apply by Feb 28; Join Free Informational Webinar on Feb 21
Did you know that 90 percent of people served by public behavioral health systems have experienced trauma? People with mental illnesses and addictions whose trauma goes unaddressed have poor health outcomes, including exacerbated mental health problems and increased risk of heart disease, suicide, and substance abuse.
What is YOUR organization doing to assess and address the impact of trauma on the people you care for? Need help? APPLY NOW to join the National Council for Behavioral Health’s 2014-2015 Trauma-informed Care Learning Community. Whether you’re new to the process, in the early stages of implementing trauma-informed care, or looking for ways to enhance current trauma-informed care implementation, this learning community has much to offer.
The year-long learning community brings you the best of two worlds — the expertise of senior National Council trauma experts and the experience of hundreds of behavioral health organizations that have walked the trauma-informed walk with them. At the end of the year, every organization in the learning community will be able to assess, develop, and implement trauma-informed practices, policies, and procedures for better health outcomes. Learn more on the National Council website.
Organizations applying for the National Council Trauma-informed Care Learning Community must obtain executive leadership buy-in and commit to building a core implementation team that includes at least two consumer representatives and engages staff from all departments. The learning community process includes a series of online coaching calls and webinars, access to tools and resources, as well as lifetime membership to an exclusive listserve. Two in-person summits (attendance is mandatory for at least two members of each core implementation team) will be held at the National Council for Behavioral Health Conference — May 2014 in Washington, DC and April 2015 in Orlando, FL. The fee for the learning community is $7,500 for National Council members ($10,000 nonmembers) and does NOT include travel and expenses for in-person meetings.
BONUS! Organizations selected to join the learning community will receive free entry to the National Council Preconference University by the legendary Dr. Bruce Perry, “Trauma Impacts the Brain: Healing Happens in Relationships” on Sunday, May 4.
Applications are due no later than 5:00 pm EST on February 28, 2014 and can be completed by clicking here https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TraumaLC_2014.
