NYAPRS Note: Given the current changes in funding sources, the Affordable Care Act, Managed Care, Health Homes, DSRIP, HARPS and all the changes we are facing, it becomes more important than ever for behavioral health providers to have the capacity to report meaningful outcomes to stakeholders. The Mental Health Center of Denver has developed a systematic way of measuring recovery outcomes which are utilized in treatment planning, clinical work, as well as in reporting results to stakeholders. This webinar will present these measures and describe the system in which they are used. We are pleased to be able to have Roy Starks and Shawna McGuckin, from the Mental Health Center of Denver as our presenters.

As both the director of Reaching Recovery and Rehabilitation Services, Roy Starks contracts with other mental health centers to utilize the Mental Health Center of Denver measures of recovery. He heads up Reaching Recovery, an initiative designed to advance the recovery practices for other provider organizations throughout Colorado and throughout the nation. Starks also develops and implements Rehabilitation Services, including the 2Succeed in Education and Employment programs that provide services to consumers, including the Wishing Well Resource Center.
As the Director of Rehabilitation Services and Reaching Recovery, Roy has dual responsibility. As the Director of Rehabilitation Services, Roy has worked to develop the 2Succeed in Employment and Education and the Wishing Well Resource Center. 2Succeed has become a nationally recognized program for supported employment combined with supported education. As the Director of Reaching Recovery, Roy works to partner with other mental health providers around the country to partner with MHCD to measure recovery. The goal is to develop a network of providers who are learning more about what promotes the recovery of people with mental illness and to develop centers which are recovery focused.
Starks is passionate about promoting the recovery of people with mental illness. His greatest accomplishment has been helping to create the 2Suceed program and developing the recovery focus of MHCD’s work. He enjoys working for the organization because of the commitment to recovery and the great teams with whom he has the privilege to work.
Starks currently serves as the Chair Elect of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association.
