NYAPRS Note: The following comes from our friends at the Association for Community Living who warn that “there is $75 million in the NYS Health Budget that is supposed to be for housing for high users of Medicaid. Unfortunately, the Senate and the Assembly have targeted portions of that money to help them close their proposed budgets.”
PLEASE MAKE CALLS TO LEADERSHIP in the Assembly and the Senate and to the Governor’s Office.
To the Assembly and Senate Leaders:
Please keep the $75 million in the health budget that was set aside for housing. Plans for that money can be made quickly and units of much needed housing could be up and running from 6 months to 2 years. This administration has acknowledged what many have known for many years, that only housing will bend the cost curve for many high users of Medicaid. We must not use this money for anything else!

To the Governor:
Thank you for acknowledging what many have known for many years, that housing will bend the cost curve for many high users of Medicaid. Please fight for the $75 million that you set aside for housing in the health budget. Plans for that money can be made quickly and units of much needed housing could be up and running from 6 months to 2 years. We must not use this money for anything else!
