The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is launching an unprecedented program of training and technical assistance opportunities for peer services in New York State. The goal of the Academy of Peer Services is to improve services through the enhancement of skills, education, and knowledge sharing.
Over the next four years, the Academy of Peer Services will offer web-based education for peer support staff and peer managers, foster the development of regional Communities of Practice through in-person and web-based activities, and technical assistance utilizing a pool of experts in the delivery and management of peer services. The activities of the Academy of Peer Services are available to all peers working in the mental health workforce and all employees in peer-operated organizations and peer-operated programs.
