Event Description
This webinar is part of SAMHSA’s Center for Financing Reform and Innovations (CFRI) Health Reform Innovations Learning Collaborative activities. The goal of this Learning Collaborative is to promote statewide coalition building among state mental health and substance use stakeholder organizations and to encourage organizations throughout the state to work together to understand and educate their community members on how health care reform is implemented within their state.
This webinar is the second of four webinars in this series. The training will provide participants with an overview of Essential Health Benefits. On December 16, 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services issued a bulletin outlining proposed policies that will give states more flexibility and freedom to implement the Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act ensures Americans have access to quality, affordable health insurance. To achieve this goal, the law ensures health plans offered in the individual and small group markets, both inside and outside of the Affordable Insurance Exchanges (Exchanges), offer a comprehensive package of items and services, known as “essential health benefits.”
By participating in this webinars state stakeholders will gain a better understanding of:
1. Essential Health Benefits;
2. Benchmark plan options;
3. Recent discussion surrounding Essential Health Benefits; and
4. Identification of the Benchmark plan options for your state.
