Dear Friends,

Community Access is excited to announce the launch of a new peer specialist training program called ThriveAtWork, developed in collaboration with the NYC Mayor’s Office and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

We are thrilled to continue the legacy of our Howie the Harp Advocacy Center as we launch ThriveAtWork. We will offer six training series a year specifically designed to empower hundreds of peer specialists to gain certification and pursue meaningful careers in the mental health workforce.

We are currently recruiting trainees who wish to become Office of Mental Health Certified Peer Specialists to take advantage of these different training opportunities. Will you join us?

For New York City peers who want to participate in the ThriveAtWork Peer Specialist Training, we have several options to meet the needs of people with lived experience at different places in their career:

* A 12-week preparation course to facilitate passing the required competency exams through the Academy of Peer Services, appropriate for graduates of Howie the Harp.

* A 13-week preparation course to facilitate passing the required competency exams through the Academy of Peer Services, appropriate for those who have taken some training relevant to peer specialist work and/or persons with over 250 hours experience working or volunteering as a peer specialist.

* A 16-week training combining intensive classroom work, on-the-job experience, and personalized internship support to train persons with lived experience in the essentials of peer specialist work. This training is appropriate if you already have experience using peer skills and/or have extensive workforce experience, but little to no experience working in the mental health field.
