Please join us for the first training webinar at 2:00pm EDT on September 3rd to learn how to implement this remarkable intervention that promotes social connectivity through the use of Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Peer Support, professional Life Coaching, and Self Direction. It is an integrated skill and support strategy that helps people living with severe psychiatric issues build networks of friends and intimate relationships. In a two-year pilot demonstration, our peer Life Coaches worked with individuals who are among the most misunderstood and isolated members of society and successfully assisted them in becoming participating members of their communities.
MHA would like to thank Janssen Pharmaceuticals for providing a grant to train organizations who strive to end social exclusion and isolation through the It’s My Life: Social Self Directed Care program. We are hosting 3 training webinars plus providing a comprehensive training manual, handouts and necessary forms that will enable any organization using peer support to implement this practice. For more information on the program please contact Kirsten Kaiser (kkaiser@mentalhealthamerica.net), Shavonne Carpenter (scarpenter@mentalhealthamerica.net), or Patrick Hendry (phendry@mentalhealthamerica.net).
