Urgent: Tell House GOP to Reject New ACA Repeal Proposal!
Once again, we are at an all hands on deck moment to stop Republican efforts to repeal health care reform. Your action is critical while Congress is home during the April 7-23 recess!
The Details: Latest efforts to repeal health care, would give more authority to HHS Secretary Tom Price to allow states to eliminate protections from insurance company abuses. States could decide that insurance companies no longer have to cover essential health benefits such as covering prescription drugs, doctor visits or maternity care and that states can charge women or people with pre-existing conditions as much as they want.
The Republican health care repeal bill is back – and been made even worse. It will increase costs, cut coverage, allow insurance companies to deny coverage for basic health services and will gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Instead of working together to make a better health care system, they’re giving into the demands of the extreme-fringe.
- The Republican effort to repeal health care continues in secret behind closed doors. They have taken a bill rejected by 83% of the public and are making it even worse.
- While they refuse to release full details of their plans to rip health care away from millions, their plan is to rush the bill to the House floor this week – just days ahead of recess and without any understanding of how it would impact people.
- The latest Republican repeal effort would gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions allowing insurance companies to charge them whatever they want.
- It would alsolet insurance companies deny coverage for basic services such as prescription drugs, behavioral healthcare, doctor visits or maternity care.
What we need:As many calls as possible so members know they should reject this latest effort.
Feel free to share this call tool or SEIU’s call-in numbers with your members to get calls going into the House: English: 866-426-2631; Spanish: 877-736-7831 (only Republican members).
Ask: Send a strong message to #ProtectOurCare: Do not take away our care. Do not gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Stop trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Targets: At the bottom of this email is the full targeting list. Key targets include: potential swing votes who would not commit, those who leaned yes or conditionally supported, or swing no votes. Each is critical as we prepare for a new vote.

Members Who Said Thet Would Not Support
These members came out publicly against the Americans for Health Care Act or were leaning against it. It’s important that they hear directly from their constituents that it’s time to move on from repeal and sabotage and work together to fix the law. We need to make sure that the swing votes, in particular, hear from their constituents that they must #ProtectOurCare.
