NYAPRS Note: In the latest whiteboard video on DSRIP from the NYS Department of Health, state Medicaid Director Jason Helgerson emphasizes that NY’s DSRIP program is right in the midst of determining whether improved health and reduced cost outcomes will be reached. The video and attachment demonstrates what DOH regards as best practice investments and innovations by the 25 regional Performing Provider System networks. Adopt a Regional Approach to Crisis Intervention 3 PPS Mid-Hudson Collaboration – Refuah Community Health Collaborative, Montefiore Hudson Valley Collaborative, WMCHealth
Dutchess County Stabilization Center opened in February 2017 and is the first facility of its kind in New York State. County. Residents of all ages – adults, youth and families – can receive services 24/7 for addiction, anxiety, depression, emotional distress, family issues and/or intoxication. No one denied services due to inability to pay or lack of insurance. Mobile Crisis Team can travel to residents in crisis and bring them to the center and law enforcement officers are trained and diverting appropriate patients to the center instead of ED or jail.

We are excited to announce another video in our whiteboard series. In the video titled, “Best Practices in DSRIP Year 3,” New York State Medicaid Director, Jason Helgerson, describes best practices currently happening among Performing Provider Systems (PPS) in DSRIP Year 3. Key categories include establishing an innovation fund, adopting best practices with data, addressing social determinates of health, adopting a regional approach to crisis intervention, and mobilizing around high priority community health needs. He also gives a tangible example for each of the best practices.
Attached to this e-mail is a supplemental document that gives additional examples from all 25 PPS, of innovative ways they are changing New York’s healthcare delivery system.
