As part of the Employment First initiative, the New York Employment Service System (NYESS) team has been working over the last several months to develop a series of tools that will directly benefit individuals with disabilities who are either working or are determining whether to seek employment. To this end, we are pleased to announce the roll out of a unique approach to benefits advisement that will initially seek to assist individuals with wage reporting, the 1619b program, the Medicaid Buy-In Program, and in the near future will assist with other benefits and work incentives.
In preparation for the roll out of this process in the first quarter of 2018, we are initially inviting all professionals who support individuals with disabilities to attend a webinar to learn more about the process design, to understand what your role will be as a provider/advocate, and to obtain an overview of each benefit that will be addressed in the process. This webinar will occur on:
January 16th, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Click Here to Register
Then, on January 30th, 1:00-3:00 p.m., we are asking providers, as well as individuals with disabilities, to attend a detailed webinar on each of the work incentives and components that we are addressing through this campaign. We will be sending an e-mail directly to individuals who have an active e-mail in NYESS, but we encourage you to also invite individuals who may not be reached through that outreach, and then update their information in NYESS so they will receive future communications.
We cordially invite all individuals, advocates, and providers to attend this 2nd webinar, as well as to share the webinar date with the numerous New Yorkers with disabilities who are seeking employment, or thinking about obtaining employment. At that time, we will walk attendees through all the steps that parties involved in the process will need to complete. Webinar information for this event is located here.
