Suicide: The Ripple Effect: A Movie and a Mission to Eradicate Suicide
This film is part of a global mission to help reduce the number of suicides and suicide attempts around the world. Through sharing stories of survival and recovery we are creating significant awareness of this health crisis, while helping people find the support they need to stay alive, heal and #BeHereTomorrow! This film received numerous awards, including at the International Film Festival at Nice, the International Black Film Festival and Woodstock Film Festival. Discuss the film with co-director Greg Dicharry.
-
Hearing Voices II: Testimony from Voice Hearers Themselves
A new feature-length documentary which explores the experiences commonly labeled as “psychosis” or “mental illness” through the real-life stories of individuals working to overcome extreme mental states, and integrate these experiences into their lives in meaningful ways. Join the discussion after the film with co-producer Oryx Cohen and Sarah Felman
-
Unlocked
Be the first to view this new ‘in progress’ film that is a follow up to the internationally acclaimed documentary Kings Park. Filmmaker Lucy Winer will screen video highlights from her new educational website, Unlocked, which grew out of her experience producing the award-winning documentary Winer (Kings Park: Stories from an American Mental Institution about the former Long Island state hospital to which she was committed as a teenager in the late 1960’s. Developed with historian Nancy Tomes, PhD, Unlocked allows us to delve more deeply into the stories of people featured in ‘Kings Park.’ Shared from multiple perspectives — consumers, peers, family members, direct care staff, clinicians, administrators, law enforcement and corrections personnel — these stories provide a balance and an overview that challenges viewers to think beyond the scope of their own experience, inspiring open dialogue and better understanding. Even the most painful stories offer hope.
