May 7 – COVID-19 and Public Benefits: A Look at the Facts

The COVID-19 emergency has created a good deal of chaos for those relying on public benefits. Offices are closed, phone lines are clogged, and things are far from business as usual. Stimulus payments, dependent payments, $600 weekly federal unemployment insurance bumps and the impact on public benefits bring good news, bad news and leaves questions about how each federal agency and the benefits it administers will impact families and individuals who rely on public benefits. Federal agency interpretation of the CARES Act continues to be somewhat murky and changeable.
Join us as we provide an update on what we know about COVID-19 and the impact it has on people receiving benefits.

May 21 – Self-Care in the Rise of the Pandemic, Part 2, Teaching Mindful Self-Care at a Distance
https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_bxX3Y8zXRY2PlY5p0Mf4xg
This presentation will look at the pathway from taking care of yourself to teaching self-care to the people you support. Join us as we discuss, practice Mindfulness and learn how Self-Care can be taught at a distance. Engaging people in an office setting can be challenging enough at times, and now we must find virtual ways to make and maintain supportive relationships that work.
We will look at traditional techniques and discuss how they can be used through tele-health – video, phone, text, snail mail, and maybe even Morse Code! Come share, learn and adapt together.
Presented By: Michael Ballester, MA and Ruth Colón-Wagner, LMSW at NYAPRS
