The following comes from Oscar Jimenez-Solomon and the NYS Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence.
“The COVID19 pandemic has triggered levels of unemployment, under-employment, and financial insecurity we have not seen in many decades. Unfortunately, the impact of the COVID19 recession on the mental health of New Yorkers will be long-lasting, and is likely to widen the mental health inequities already experienced by Blacks, peoples of color, and low-income communities.
Baltic Street AEH. has partnered with the NYS Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence at the New York State Psychiatric Institute to offer From Hardship to Hope, 6-session peer support group for financial wellness. This first group is open to people who live or work in NYC. It will include group sessions, one-on-one support, connection to a free, certified financial counselor who can address personal financial stressors and goals, practical information and other resources, mindfulness exercises, and a supportive and empathic environment where to build our financial hope.”
