NYAPRS upcoming virtual Annual Conference will feature a critically important keynote panel presentation that will include Hawk Newsome, the founder and chair for the Greater New York chapter of Black Lives Matter, Celia Brown, Chacku Mathai and Jeff McQueen. The Conference, entitled “RISE UP! Community, Connection, Culture,” will be held during the days of September 22 and October 1 and the days and evenings of September 24 and September 29, 2020.
The panel will be exploring the impact of societal and structural racism at every level, including federal, state and local mental health systems. Our speakers will also discuss community policing and crisis responses, including Daniel Prude’s fatal encounter with the Rochester, NY police last March.
