NYAPRS is extremely pleased to feature a keynote presentation by 16th Surgeon General of the United State David Satcher at our upcoming virtual Annual Conference, entitled “Mental Health Challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The Conference, entitled, “RISE UP! Community, Connection, Culture,” will be held during the days of September 22 and October 1 and the days and evenings of September 24 and September 29, 2020.
In December 1999, Dr. Satcher issued Mental Health: A Report of the Surgeon General, the first ever surgeon general’s report on mental health. His comments were recently featured in recent article in the Hill entitled “Failure To Address Coronavirus Mental Health Issues Will Prolong Impact” and his Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the CDC Foundation are in the process of establishing a Health Equity Task Force that will address the disparate impacts and underreporting of the impact of the virus on racial/ethnic minorities, people living with disabilities, and those of lower socioeconomic status.
