Give Your Input on New York’s Olmstead Plan!
Ceylane Myers-Ruff, NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities, Albany, NY
Doug Hovey, Independent Living, Newburgh NY
Harvey Rosenthal, NYAPRS, Albany NY
Across the nation, states are developing ‘Olmstead Plans’ that make historic new commitments to help move people with disabilities from hospitals, nursing and adult homes, sheltered workshops, and day programs (‘segregated’ institutional settings) to apartments and jobs (examples of the ‘most integrated community setting’ of their choice). This presentation will give you a chance to directly give state officials your opinion about how our state can specifically improve the way it helps people to move ahead in their lives.
September 19 Friday 11:30-12:45 PM
NYSILC 2012 Statewide Needs Assessment & State Plan Formulation
New York State Independent Living Council (NYSILC) Development Of The Three-Year State Plan For Independent Living (SPIL) for 2014, 2015, And 2016
NYSILC’s Brad Williams will be seeking public input on the State Plan for Independent Living, a plan to improve Independent Living (IL) services in the State for individuals with disabilities. The SPIL helps to identify the needs and priorities of the consumers, providers, and other stakeholders involved in the network to help identify common strategies, and is a tool that ultimately directs the use of Federal IL funding.
