GREAT RIVER, N.Y. – (AP) – Officials on Long Island say six mental health agencies are participating in a project that provides storm-related services.
The FEMA-funded program is called Project Hope.
It provides crisis counseling, outreach and education to residents of hard-hit communities.
Project Hope is administered by the state Office of Mental Health in partnership with local governments.
Suffolk County says it’s initially receiving over $972,00 for the program. It says more funding is expected over a nine-month period.
