In commemoration of June as Immigrant Heritage Month, the New York State Office for New Americans (ONA) invites you to a special webinar on ways we can use data to learn about the immigrant communities which call New York State home.
This year also marks the 10-year anniversary of ONA, which is part of the New York State Department of State. In recognition of this important milestone, and celebrating the contributions of new Americans in New York State, our Secretary of State Robert J. Rodriguez will provide introductory remarks.
We are also excited to welcome David Kraiker, Data Dissemination Specialist at the U.S. Census Bureau, as one of our featured presenters. David will provide a live training on the data available through the Census and how we can use it to learn about new American communities across New York State.
We will also be joined by Andrew Lim, Director of Research at the American Immigration Council, who will guide participants in:
-
Learning about demographic characteristics and key economic contributions of immigrants in New York State
-
Learning about data available about specific immigrant groups (Undocumented, DACA-eligible, Refugees)
-
Understanding the data available through their site (https://data.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/map-the-impact, and more!
See attachment to Meet the Presenters.
There will be opportunity following the webinar to respond to participant requests for community specific data using the Census website.
Best regards,
