NYAPRS Peer Navigator (FT)
Title: Peer Navigator
Division: Peer
Reports to: Director of Peer Navigator Project
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Peer Navigator is a vital member of the NYAPRS’ Peer Navigator team. The NYAPRS Peer Navigator Project is an innovative program designed to assist HARP enrolled individuals by connecting them with a highly trained Peer Navigator. The Peer Navigator will accompany individuals throughout the process of awareness, interest, referral, enrollment, and involvement in Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) services.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:

Provide virtual and/or in-person, one-to-one outreach, and engagement to HARP members in assigned regions

Share personal experience of behavioral health as a means to help support the HARP member

Describe CORE/HCBS services to HARP members
-
Work alongside the HARP member to support them from the engagement process through referral and enrollment in CORE/HCBS.

Provide referral information and linkage to Health Homes
-
Provide referral information and linkage to CORE service providers
-
With written consent, follow up on referrals and linkages to service providers.

Document each encounter and/or encounter attempt in a brief note.

Participate in weekly group supervision

Collect and enter data into data dashboard or spreadsheet and submit to project coordinator as assigned
Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Knowledge of the NY State mental health and substance use system, particularly Community Oriented Recovery Empowerment (CORE) services.

Demonstrated knowledge of advocacy, self-help, and empowerment programs for recipients of mental health and substance use services.

Ability to convey a message of hope and recovery for people with psychiatric disabilities.

Ability to complete basic documentation requirements regarding work activities.
-
Solid written and oral skills.

Flexible schedule occasionally including evenings and weekends.

Must be independent and reliable; having own vehicle and clean driving record, preferred.

Must have internet/email access.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs

Lived experience with the mental health system.

NYAPRS Seeks Training Implementation Specialist

Position Summary: The Training Implementation Specialist is a vital member of the NYAPRS team and will work the Western NY region to provide onsite and virtual consultation to agencies participating in the New York Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training Academy Project. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training Academy has been created to improve participants’ satisfaction with services as and strengthen the workforce’s capacity to provide psychiatric rehabilitation services. The Training and Consultation Facilitator will be responsible for engaging providers of Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS). Community Oriented Recovery and Empowerment (CORE) and Adult Behavioral Health Home and Community Based (BH HCBS) services in training, developing individualized, agency-specific training plans, and implementation support.
Daily job duties of the Peer Navigator Director include:
The Training Implementation Specialist reports directly to the Project Director. Travel is essential to and required for this position. Job responsibilities include:

Work in coordination with project staff to support in-person, on-site and virtual training to providers through New York State by facilitating breakout sessions, etc.

Provide on-site supportive consultation to ROS PROS, CORE, BH HCBS and other rehabilitation service providers that encourage participation in psychiatric rehabilitation training and support providers problem-solve issues related to implementation.

Communicate with consultation team to support learning and address challenges to project implementation.

Provide virtual office hours using Zoom platform to groups of providers throughout NYS to implement psychiatric rehabilitation training initiative.

Participate in monthly project meetings with all partners and advisors.
-
Interact with training participations at participating organizations to ensure training needs are met.
-
Participate in psychiatric rehabilitation training by attending virtual and onsite learning events and completing online modules.
Job Requirements

At least three years of experience providing psychiatric rehabilitation services or working in psychiatric rehabilitation services

Must possess multi-tasking, organizational, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills
-
Communicates in a strong, positive, and effective manner
-
Excellent presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills
-
Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Products
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Lived experience with the mental health system preferred

Prior training in psychiatric rehabilitation is preferred
