The New York City Peer Specialist Conference Planning Committee is currently seeking workshop proposals for the 17th Annual NYC Conference for Working Peer Specialists, which will be held in person on Thursday, July 20, 2023. This year’s conference theme is “Embracing Hope: Rising Together as a Peer Support Workforce.” See attachments (Call for Proposals, Workshop Submission Template, Writing Learning Objectives, Sample Workshop Proposal, Workshop Planning Template) in support of your proposals.
This conference is held specifically for New York City Peer Specialists working in mental health and substance use settings, including programs and initiatives engaging family, youth, and justice impacted populations. If you are a peer specialist looking to enhance your skills and knowledge of peer support values and current best practices, this conference will stimulate a critical dialogue addressing: career development; trends in health care that impact engagement; supervision and training; wellness, self-care and holistic practice; and the arts.
We invite structured workshop proposals including a description of no more than 150 words, focused learning objectives, presenter bio(s), and equipment needs. Please note that learning objectives should translate to observable approaches and activities used to engage participants while integrating recovery-oriented, person-centered, social-justice, and trauma-informed concepts.
