People must be able to choose and access resources they need to recover and thrive. The Alliance for Rights and Recovery works towards this goal through the promotion of human rights, health, wellness, recovery, and full community inclusion so that everyone can reach their full potential.
Current Priorities
Our priorities are ensuring that everyone has access to the tools, resources, and knowledge they need to recover and achieve a dignified, self-directed life.
Grassroots activism and public engagement, whether at the local, state, or national level promotes the policies and practices we support. Our primary goals include improving access to affordable supportive housing, promoting criminal justice reform, and securing funding for community based behavioral health services.
State
Priorities
We are calling for elected leadership to provide more funding for current programs and to pass legislation establishing new resources that advance every person’s path to recovery and fulfillment.
We aim to secure more funding for voluntary outreach, support services programs, and Housing First supportive housing units. We also hope to create criminal justice reform by passing the “Clean Slate” and “Treatment Not Jails” legislation. Additionally, we are pushing the Legislature to invest more money in the mental health care field by promoting policies such as tuition reimbursement and loan forgiveness programs for those who work in the public mental health and substance use fields.
Federal Priorities
We believe in a community-driven, grassroots approach to transformative legislative change that privileges the rights, dignity, and value of all people, regardless of their mental health or substance use challenges.
We actively seek to network with individuals, mental health professionals, organizations, and community outreach programs to promote federal policies that foster recovery and rehabilitation. In challenging the national status quo and stigma surrounding mental health, we will elevate the level of care so that recovery is the outcome for every individual.
