Federal and state policymakers and funders are paying increased attention to integrated care approaches for high-cost beneficiaries, including those with comorbid conditions. According to the National Comorbidity Survey Replication from 2001-2003, nearly 68% of individuals with a mental disorder had at least one medical condition, and 29% of individuals with a medical condition had a comorbid mental health disorder. Collaborative care models that use a multidisciplinary team have been shown to provide effective treatment for persons with comorbid physical and mental conditions.
On this webinar, Dr. Ben Druss, co-author of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Synthesis Report, Mental Disorders and Medical Comorbidity, discusses key findings on caring for comorbid conditions and the policy implications. Dr. Paul Ciechanowski discusses the TEAMcare Model and shares the “key ingredients” for successful clinical models that address multiple chronic conditions. |
