BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Peer Support Specialist will be responsible for internal and external implementation of stakeholder meetings for individuals receiving services, families, and providers and will assist the Stakeholder Coordinator with all regional meetings. The Peer Support Specialist will also work directly with individuals receiving services, family members, providers and other stakeholders, at the direction of the Regional Director
This position requires the experience of recovery or the direct experience of having a family member in recovery. This position will be a resource to individuals receiving services, families, and other stakeholders related to recovery initiatives. We recognize fundamental services are needed to support recovery; such as access and choice in housing, work, leisure, spirituality, and relationships to name a few. To fill this position we will recruit a seasoned Peer Specialist with expertise in issues such as housing, transportation, career training and psychiatric rehabilitation programs.
In the role, this position will entail training and education of providers, stakeholders and recipients of direct service. This position will also include telephonic and face to face contact with individuals receiving services, family members and other stakeholders to ensure that people have access to recovery tools; education concerning recovery; community based services; resources for housing; resources available to members to promote recovery; and ability to educate individuals and family members on the domains of recovery.
The Peer Support Specialist also represents the organization to the general public, individuals in, and seeking, recovery, family members, and to stakeholder groups.
MAJOR TASKS AND DUTIES
- Facilitates the achievement of system change related to transformation and recovery.
- Work with all stakeholders in terms of education and implementation of best practices in terms of system transformation.
- Represents Community Care’s recovery and transformation initiatives at all individual, family, and provider and other stakeholder committees.
- Assists with coordination of all stakeholders into regional groups and helps facilitate meetings
- Promotes principles of recovery with individuals, providers and stakeholders.
- Meets with individuals receiving services and listens to feedback regarding systems recovery implementation strengths and barriers. Ensures that children, adolescent, adult, and family voices are linked into the overall transformation initiative.
- Assists with training of providers, individuals receiving services and staff on issues related to Recovery, including items such as Transformation and Recovery best practices; WRAP plans, etc.
- Provides telephonic assistance to individuals and family members concerning recovery tools and resources.
- Extensive travel throughout the region and has own transportation
- Responsible for other duties as required.

- Problem solving skills based on knowledge of transformation, recovery, and resilience; Transformation and Recovery best practices; the provider network, and individuals rights and responsibilities, and the operating practices of the organization.
- Ability to provide good customer services to individuals, family members and other stakeholders.
- Strong telephone and interpersonal skills.
- Must have transportation
- Ability to use a computer and document the outcome of phone calls and contacts.
- Ability to work with consumers and families utilizing a recovery model
- Excellent written, computer, and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to travel in the region and within the state.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Regional Director with a report to the Stakeholder Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
High school education or GED. Prefer some college
Must be a person in recovery or the family member of a person with a serious behavioral health disorder.
Ability to use a computer and basic writing abilities.
