January 30, 2012 — The U.S. House is preparing to vote this week on a bill (HR 1173) that would repeal the Community Living Assistance Service and Support (CLASS) Act, a long-term care insurance program enacted under the Affordable Care Act. The CLASS Act would help people pay for long-term services and supports vital to helping them live independently in their homes and communities if they develop a disability with functional limitations, as is common with aging.
Please call your representative (identify yours here) toll-free at 866-898-2624 and ask them to:
Oppose HR 1173’s repeal of the CLASS Act!
Work with your colleagues to make CLASS work, not delete it!
Why support the CLASS Act?
CLASS is the only long-term care framework that exists in the Affordable Care Act
CLASS is paid for by voluntary premiums, not taxpayers
CLASS helps people who become severely disabled afford long-term services and supports so they can live independently in their homes and communities
