ACMHA is the premier forum for the exchange of new policy ideas that
contribute to the improvement in the lives of people with mental health
and substance use conditions and the systems that provide treatment and
prevention services.
Applying Community Work Sessions at the 2012 Summit
You will spend the 2012 Summit in “community work sessions,” punctuated
by a selection of motivating and inspirational speakers. Presenters will
create a space for critical conversations on developing social supports
in communities, improving community health, and the “fit” for behavioral
health in communities. This format offers participants the freedom to
dialogue with colleagues concerning key topics that inspire them.
The 2012 Summit will address three contemporary and compelling
questions:
* What impact do social supports have on the health of a
community?
* How can these supports change a community’s social determinants
of health?
* What are the implications of these changes for the prevention,
treatment, and recovery of people with behavioral health problems?

Anyone with an interest in mental health, substance use, and the broader
health care field is invited to attend the 2012 ACMHA Summit. Invite
your colleagues! Through this year’s Summit, you and your colleagues
will have the opportunity to participate in raising awareness and
achieving consensus among leaders concerning the social factors that
affect health, particularly behavioral health. You will be able to
explore the fundamental steps necessary to get started in your
community, how efforts can be sustained and what kind of leadership is
