HHC Housing
Crain’s Health Pulse April 16, 2012
The NYC Health & Hospitals Corp. is getting a $7.3 million state budget allocation for affordable housing for its patients.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo initially proposed $75 million in statewide affordable housing funding for fiscal year 2012-2013 as part of the Medicaid Redesign Team’s recommendations.
HHC will use the money to fund a project to develop affordable and supportive housing for patients discharged from its Coler-Goldwater skilled nursing facility-where the average length of stay is more than four years-who could do well in noninstitutional, community-based long-term care.
There are more than 300 HHC nursing-home residents who could live in the community if there were affordable housing options available. HHC is partnering with housing providers and developers to secure housing options for such patients
