NYAPRS Note: The following comes from our friends at New York City’s Howie the Harp Advocacy Center.
Dear Colleagues:
Please find attached applications for two peer provider training programs that we offer at Howie The Harp Advocacy Center: The HTH Peer Training Program and the Mind Your Health Peer Wellness Coaching Program. You can download the applications from our website www.communityaccess.org/HTH.
Since 1995, Howie The Harp Advocacy Center has provided employment training and resources for people with psych disabilities to work as peer providers in Human Services. Our highly-regarded, comprehensive program offers students the opportunity to gain the professional, personal and interpersonal skills that support gainful long term employment as well as personal wellness. We’re now accepting applications for the Fall 2012 term. Deadline for submissions is Friday May 11, 2012.
And for working peer providers – it’s with great pleasure that Howie The Harp Advocacy Center offers our 2nd annual Mind Your Health Peer Wellness Coaching Program. This training is highly relevant for those who already possess work experience and wish to position themselves to competitively work in an integrated health environment. Starting in June 2012, working peers in the NYC metro area have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of wellness and build the coaching skills to support other peers in their recovery. Deadline for submissions for MYH 2012 is Friday April 27, 2012.
Please note that current HTH graduates of our Peer Training Program have received formal training in Peer Wellness Coaching as well. If your agency needs Peer Wellness Coaches/ Facilitators, please contact Valerie Bennett, Coordinator of Employment and Career Services, at vbennett@communityaccess.org.
Please feel free to forward this email to anyone you think may be interested in these programs.
Thank you!
