NYAPRS Note: The following comes from our partners at SAMHSA’s Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS).
BRSS TACS Webinar, May 10, 2012: “Shared Decision-Making and Recovery: Using Decisional Support Tools to Advance Recovery Supports.”
SAMHSA’s Recovery Support Strategic Initiative (RSSI) provides an opportunity for advancing discussions on how recovery and recovery support can be implemented to best meet the needs of people experiencing mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions.
The BRSS TACS webinar will begin with an overview of the RSSI; move into an exploration of Shared Decision-Making (SDM) and decision support tools and products; discuss a model decision aid (DA) developed by SAMHSA on “What Is the Role of Antipsychotic Medications in My Recovery Plan;” and finish with a discussion of a DA on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opiate Addictions under development by SAMHSA that will help service users consider the implications of their decisions about MAT.
