Duties:
The Department of Mental Health is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and visionary leader for its Office of Recovery and Empowerment. This newly created position, the Director of Recovery and Empowerment will work in the Commissioner’s Office to promote a vision of recovery, empowerment and wellness through an overarching approach to incorporate the peer perspective in all programs, policies and procedures and affecting cultural changes throughout the organization. As an integral member of the DMH Executive team, the Director will have input in strategic planning decisions that impact policy development, programmatic planning and DMH procedures. The Director will also provide a bridge from DMH to the community at large to work toward effecting changes in service delivery that incorporates peer perspectives and practices of empowerment, recovery and wellness in community based service provision. The Director will also be responsible to set the goals and direction for the Office of Recovery and Empowerment in planning a roadmap to achieve cultural changes for the department and further impart the peer perspective in our vision toward the future.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, or public administration and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a managerial capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
6 years professional, managerial/supervisory or administrative experience working in the mental health system or human service agency of which 4 years must have been in a managerial capacity.
Certified peer specialist
Person must have extensive history of interaction or employment or membership with peer organizations, vendors or advocacy groups.
Person must have worked in the mental health system or for a non-profit dealing with MH issues.
