New Toolkit on The Presidential Health Care Plans

October 11, 2012 by Chris Liu-Beers

New Toolkit: The Presidential Health Care Plans — What You Need to Know

The Presidential Health Care Plans Toolkit is available here.

Health care is an increasingly important issue in this close presidential election, but sorting out what the candidates are proposing – and what it all means – is difficult.

The resources in a new Toolkit from the Alliance for Health Reform, available here, will help you to move beyond the rhetoric.

The debate can be boiled down to three central questions. Should the country continue to implement the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, should states receive federal block grants to run Medicaid as they wish, and how can the federal government lower costs in Medicare, the health care program for seniors and the disabled?

The Toolkit, The Presidential Health Care Plans: What You Need to Know, includes:

  • An explanation of the candidates’ positions
  • Key facts about the status of health care coverage, Medicare and Medicaid
  • Links to news articles and reports explaining and analyzing the proposals and listing advisers to the candidates
  • A list of health care experts who understand the plans and their implications

The Alliance for Health Reform is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit health policy education group. We are committed to helping journalists, elected officials and other shapers of public opinion understand the roots of the nation’s health care problems and the trade-offs posed by various proposals for change. Our aim is quality, affordable health coverage for all in the U.S., although we do not lobby or take positions on legislation. Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) is our founder and honorary chairman; Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) is honorary co-chairman; and Robert Graham, MD, of George Washington University, is our board chairman.
