New York State Department of Health: Developing a State Health Care Innovation Plan & Strategies for Payment Reform
Thursday, April 25, 2013 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM EDT
The New York State Department of Health (DOH) is pleased to announce a kickoff meeting on Thursday, April 25th from 10:00-11:00 AM to begin its work on developing a State Health Care Innovation Plan. This webinar will provide an overview of the State Innovation grant program, examine the range of payment reform strategies available to states, and discuss NYS’s activities under this grant award.
DOH is developing a new State Innovation Models (SIM) plan for a Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) grant program. Through this program, CMMI is funding coordinated efforts by states to take promising innovations in health care delivery, and implement strategies – including providing technical assistance and generating a wider base of multi-payer and multi-stakeholder support for such efforts – to spread those promising demonstrations statewide.
The webinar will address how several states chose their models with attention paid to differing political landscapes across states. Michael Bailit, President, Bailit Health Purchasing, will discuss the range of models of payment reform that states may consider pursuing as they work to improve delivery systems.
Rachel Block, Deputy Commissioner, Office of Health Information Technology Transformation will provide an overview of the award DOH received to develop its State Health Care Innovation Plan from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) under the State Innovation Models Initiative.
