Nov 12 Webinar: How to Build Your Peer Recovery Center

BRSS TACS is pleased to announce an upcoming webinar hosted by The Western Massachusetts Training Consortium’s RECOVER Project. The RECOVER Project is a recipient of the 2013 BRSS TACS Peer-Run Organization/Recovery Community Organization Awards. These awards support activities that promote peer-delivered, recovery-oriented services for people in recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders. Activities performed under these awards encourage best and emerging practices for peer-delivered recovery supports by developing materials that educate peer providers, providing training and educational activities for peer providers, or planning and developing infrastructure to establish peer-delivered recovery supports. 

The RECOVER Project is promoting the development of peer participatory recovery centers across the country by expanding, updating, and disseminating its 2006 manual, “How to Build Your Own Peer-to-Peer Recovery Center from the Ground Up.”  The webinar will occur November 12th,2013 and we encourage you to consider participating on their webinar to learn more about the process of creating a peer-to-peer recovery center.

“From the Ground Up: How to Build your own Peer-to-Peer Recovery Center—The Plan, The Process The Product”

Building on 10 years of experience, The RECOVER Project has created a how-to manual, titled, “From the Ground Up: How to Build your own Peer-to-Peer Recovery Center.” The manual provides a step-by-step overview of the process of creating a peer-to-peer recovery center, directions on how to sustain a recovery center and community, and an exploration of the theoretical underpinnings of the work done at The RECOVER Project.

Linda Sarage, Director of The RECOVER Project, is the featured speaker and will share her knowledge and expertise in developing and sustaining The RECOVER Project’s Peer Run Recovery Center.

This webinar, the first of a two part series, will identify concrete steps used by the Recovery Center as defined in the manual, beginning with the visioning stage, and culminating with the opening the the Recovery Center in the community. The second webinar, to be held on the 19th of November at 1:30pm EST, will examine the manual in detail, providing a more thorough understanding of the strategies used to operationalize and sustainThe RECOVER Project.
