Parachute NYC Video demonstrates alternate opportunities for people in crisis in NYC

February 3, 2014 by Chris Liu-Beers

NYAPRS Note: Below is a link to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene website where you can view a promotional video describing the new Parachute NYC program. Parachute NYC is an innovative project that provides options for people experiencing a psychiatric crisis, i.e. emotional/mental health issues that make it difficult to manage without help. Instead of going to a hospital, Parachute NYC offers rapid access (within 24 hours) to home-based treatment and crisis respite centers where people can stay in a calm, supportive environment, staffed by trained peers. Visit the website for more information about this innovative NYC project.

I am pleased to announce that the Parachute NYC promotional video is complete and available on YouTube and via the DOHMH website. This six minute video features staff from the Manhattan and Brooklyn Mobiles Teams and Respites as well as two former Respite guests.  We are so grateful for those who volunteered their words and images as well as those who made things possible from behind the scenes. We believe this video is a poignant illustration of the amazing work that you are doing and hope it will be an effective way of connecting with people who might be interested in Parachute NYC services.

Best,

Jamie Neckles, MA, LMSW
