Employment and Economic Self-Sufficiency
Overview: In the context of system transformation already underway across the country toward a recovery model that infuses performance-based outcomes such as employment, it is imperative that providers be given the tools and curricula necessary to support people in recovery move out of poverty and into employment and economic self-sufficiency. ATTC-NYAPRS Employment and Economic Self-Sufficiency Learning Collaboratives are designed to give providers the tools they need to assist those in recovery on their journey into Employment and Economic Self-Sufficiency.
Overall Objectives: Learning Collaborative participants will be able to:
- Describe the concept of economic self-sufficiency (ESS) to participants enrolled in their programs
- Integrate financial wellness in employment assessments and individualized recovery treatment plans
- Build a culture that supports financial wellness and work
- Identify action steps for implementation
- Prepare and deliver financial wellness plans in a group setting
- Support participants’ to measure their individual progress and outcomes in using the financial wellness curriculum and gather meaningful data for quality improvement and program evaluation
Training & Technical Assistance: All Registrants for the Learning Collaboratives will be offered:
- Training (Regional forums) organized as one-day, in-person, classroom sessions. This will introduce the Employment and Economic Self-Sufficiency curriculum to participants and provide the skills necessary to teach the curriculum effectively and use it with clients.

- Technical Assistance (Webinars) will be delivered as a six-part webinar series (once per month beginning in April ‘14 and ending in September ‘14). Webinars will be accessible by all who participate in the regional forums and this technical assistance will address:
- Modules 1 & 2 – Creating culture of Economic Self Sufficiency
- Module 3 – Creating financial wellness plans
- Module 4 – Integrating financial wellness plans into assessments
- Module 5 – Tracking outcomes
- Module 6 – Quality improvement and program evaluation
