NYAPRS Note: Peers and advocates from around the world will gather in Arlington, MA, from October 9-12 this fall for the first MIA International Film Festival. As they state on their website: “Mad in America’s International Film Festival will showcase short and feature-length films from around the world that explore the history of psychiatry. The festival is designed to encourage us to think anew about the nature of “mental illness” and our societal forms of treatment. Driven by a commitment to human rights and social justice, this four-day festival will foster dialogue about psychiatry and mental health via film screenings, panels, live performances, and audience discussions.” Register for the event and find more information here!
A March Update on MIA’s International Film Festival
Mad in America; 3/24/2014
Since announcing our ‘Call for Submissions’, things have been picking up behind the scenes at Mad in America’s International Film Festival. Submissions are coming in through Withoutabox, and we are exploring some exciting possibilities– including a live performance or two– for our four-day event. We have confirmed Festival participants from Canada, Iceland, Sweden, and England, as well as from across the United States, and the list continues to grow.
We are encouraging people to book travel and lodging as early as possible, given that the fall is a busy time in New England (the beautiful colors of changing leaves will bring many to the Boston area come October!) We have listed helpful information on hotels and travel under ‘Attend’ on the menu bar. Information on tickets will be coming soon through the Regent Theatre website.
