CDPAANYS has an exciting new opportunity for an ambitious self-starter to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a peer mentoring program within CDPAP.
Program Manager
The CDPAP Program Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and lead a program assessing the impact of peer mentoring in assisting the State in implementing its Olmstead Plan and keeping people in the community. The Program Manager will also work with the Executive Director to develop and implement a programmatic vision for the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State and will have a strong commitment to the goals of empowerment, civil rights and personal choice – key components of the independent living movement and consumer directed personal assistance.
Responsibilities include:
- implementing a program to evaluate the effectiveness of peer mentoring in Consumer Directed Personal Assistance in implementing its Olmstead Plan and keeping people out of institutions;
- modification of a peer counseling curriculum on peer mentoring and the ability to train individuals using the curriculum;
- developing informational materials about the availability of peer mentoring services and facilitating relationships among fiscal intermediaries, managed care plans, and nursing homes to maximize use of the program;
- managing statewide project, including data collection, evaluation and report preparation; and
- supervising peer mentors.
This is an Albany-based position. Statewide travel is required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, New York State Health laws and issues impacting seniors and people with disabilities;
- Professional experience in long term care and disability rights;
- Project management experience, including staff supervision and training;
- Experience with statistical evaluation and the creation of evaluation tools;
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, computer, written, and public speaking skills;
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the position may be substituted.
